Admissions process for Gr R and Grades 2 – 7 for 2024

Dates:

  1. The admissions period for Gr R will be from 24 April 2023 to 16 July 2023. Applications received after 16 July will be placed on the Waiting list and parents will be contacted should space be available.
  2. Admissions for Grades 2 – 7 will be from 17 April 2023 to 08 October 2023. Placements will be made at the end of November.

THE PROCESS:

  1. Placement of learners will be prioritized as per the Admissions Regulations i.e.

    First - Home address closest to school within the Feeder Zone

    Second - Sibling at school

    Third - Work address closest to school within the Feeder Zone

    Fourth - Home address within 30km


    All applicants in each category are placed before the next category is considered. Late applications will only be considered once the applications received during the admissions period have been placed.
  2. Please click on the link below which will give you access to a Google Form that must be completed.
  3. All mandatory fields must be completed in order for the form to be submitted.
  4. A new form must be completed for each application.
  5. Once the form has been submitted a copy will be e-mailed to you. Please print and sign the form and bring it to school with all your supporting documents.

Documentation required:

  • Certified copy of birth certificate
  • Certified copy of both parent IDs
  • Immunization page of clinic card with the child’s name on it
  • Proof of Residence
    • Municipal account in the parent’s name – matching name and ID
    • Formal lease agreement through an agency
    • Levy / utility bill from a management company for a complex
    • Formal letter from the body corporate of an estate/ complex – original
    • An informal lease agreement must be accompanied by the municipal account and certified ID of the owner as well as 3 months proof of payment of rent
    • Applicants staying with family or friends must supply the certified copy of the owner’s ID, the owner’s municipal account and an affidavit from the owner stating the relationship between the owner and the applicant
    • If the proof of address is in the name of a parent who is not listed on the child’s birth certificate an affidavit stating the relationship between the owner and the child must be submitted
  • The child’s latest progress report from the current school/ nursery school
  • In the case of single parent families - Affidavit regarding the whereabouts of the second parent/ death certificate of deceased parents
  • Guardianship documents/ affidavit from parent indicating relationship to guardian plus parent ID and details in the case of a guardian applying for a child whose parent is living

Placement:

  1. Placement offers for Grade R will be sent to parents in the week of 25 July. Parents have 7 days to accept or decline the offer. Offers not accepted within 7 days will be cancelled and given to the next applicant on the list.
  2. Unsuccessful applicants for Grade R will be notified after 21 August 2023.
  3. Placement in Grade R does not guarantee placement of siblings in other grades or that the learner will be placed at Springvale for Grade 1.
  4. Applicants for grades 2 – 7 will only be placed once we are notified of current learners that are leaving. This usually only happens at the end of the year. Springvale is currently at capacity in all grades. Historically we place very few new learners each year. Please also apply at other schools in the area.
  5. Applications received after placement starts will be added to the waiting list.
